DGS Partner Miko Brown Honored by CWBA Foundation

Davis Graham & Stubbs partner, Miko Brown, was honored at the Colorado Women’s Bar Association Foundation’s “Raising the Bar” dinner last night along with four other Colorado-based attorneys as “Women Lawyers Who Raise The Bar Through Systemic Reform Or Innovation.” Ms. Brown was recognized for her efforts to champion reform in the advancement of women and minorities in the legal profession. Her flagship project, which she began at her previous firm and has continued at DGS, is the Women in Leadership Lecture Series (WILLS). WILLS connects women in law, business, and government and empowers them to achieve success at all levels of their professions. WILLS has had a profound impact on many women in the Denver legal community, including providing a significant support system for in-house counsel. Ms. Brown has spent countless hours ensuring that women and minority law firm lawyers and law students meet directly with in-house counsel for purposes of career advancement and business development.

Ms. Brown focuses her national litigation practice on defending large companies in catastrophic personal injury and commercial cases. Her experience includes products liability, medical malpractice, civil rights, premises liability, and construction matters. In commercial litigation, she has defended numerous actions alleging misrepresentation and violation of consumer protection laws and has successfully defended breach of contract and intellectual property infringement cases. Additionally, Ms. Brown’s employment experience includes matters alleging race, gender, disability, and age discrimination, as well as sexual harassment and whistleblower actions.

"Miko is an exceptional lawyer and an extraordinary leader in the community,” said Shannon Stevenson, former CWBA president and current member of the DGS Executive Committee. “In addition to excelling in her practice of law, she works tirelessly to improve our profession and perfectly upholds the values that the CWBA Foundation holds dear.”

Ms. Brown is the immediate past president of the Colorado Asian Pacific American Bar Association and serves on the board of the Center for Legal Inclusiveness. She is also serves on the Colorado Bar Association’s Access to Justice Commission. Ms. Brown graduated from the University of California Berkeley, summa cum laude, and received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

The CWBA Foundation was founded in 1988 to implement the charitable and educational work of the CWBA, to promote the advancement of women in the law, and to protect and promote the welfare of all women. Each year the organization honors women lawyers who have made a difference in the community. The annual “Raising the Bar” dinner attracts around 400 attendees to celebrate the accomplishments of the honorees and to thank them for paving the way for women in Colorado and around the nation.
