Paul J. Prendergast, Ph.D.

Paul J. Prendergast, Ph.D. is a partner at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP. Dr. Prendergast’s practice focuses on assisting clients in developing strategies to preserve, manage, and leverage their intellectual property assets. Dr. Prendergast is particularly suited for for matters related to patent prosecution, due diligence, and clearance. Over the course of his career he has represented large and small pharmaceutical companies, chemical manufacturing interests, biotechnology companies, energy and fuel developers, medical device companies, federal facilities, and universities.

Prior to joining DGS, Dr. Prendergast was a shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP and was previously a partner at Merchant & Gould P.C. in Denver. Before attending law school, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for his dissertation on the role of an accessory protein in steroid hormone receptor-DNA interactions and function.

Dr. Prendergast is a member of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he has been consistently recognized as a recommended expert. He has been listed in the IAM Patent 1000 Rankings since 2014 in the areas of patent prosecution, IP transactions, and intellectual asset management. Dr. Prendergast has been widely published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is active in a number of community projects and currently serves on the board of Project Greer Street, an award-winning high school academic enrichment program for African-American males.
