Sustainability Policy


Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP consistently works toward achieving social, environmental, and economic sustainability. DGS will strive for the outcomes elaborated below, publicly communicate this commitment, and periodically report on our progress in fulfilling this vision. With the firm’s support, we have established a Sustainability Committee (aka the Green Team) to discuss and execute this program of action.

Environmental Sustainability

Resource and Energy Conservation. We will conserve our use of natural resources and energy.

Waste and Pollution Prevention and Management. We will reduce the quantity of the waste that we generate in our operations and will handle it in a conscientious manner to minimize its negative effects on the environment. We will make a dedicated effort to reduce our carbon footprint so as to lessen our contribution to the emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants.

Reduction of Supply Chain Impacts. We will work with others in our supply chain to reduce adverse environmental impacts and risks associated with our operations and optimize environmental benefits.

Green Team. We will maintain an active Green Team consisting of attorneys and staff to implement our commitment to environmental sustainability. The Green Team will identify and outline specific steps that the firm will take in achieving the purposes of this section as part of an ongoing Environmental Responsibility Implementation Plan (“Implementation Plan”). The Implementation Plan will be revised periodically to reflect evolving environmental standards and business practices. The Green Team will meet periodically throughout the year to review the Implementation Plan and to consider appropriate quantitative standards by which to measure the progress of the firm in this area.

Social Responsibility

Respect for Co-workers. We will treat everyone within our workforce in a respectful way, especially with regard to compensation and benefits; promotion; training; open, constructive dialogue with management; working conditions that are safe and healthy; employment-termination practices; and encouraging wellness and appropriate work-life balance.

Diversity, Inclusiveness, and Fair Hiring Practices. DGS strives to attract and retain personnel who reflect the multiplicity of cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and viewpoints that are represented in our global economy. We will promote diversity and use hiring practices for our employees, management board, and suppliers that are fair and responsible and that do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, military status, or disability. We will continue to support the DGS Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee to help ensure that the firm is committed to these principles.

Responsible Governance; Professional Courtesy. We will manage our risks properly, use our economic power responsibly, and operate our organization in a way that is ethical and legal. We will treat with due respect others who are involved with us in the discussion of legal issues and the resolution of legal claims.

Working with Clients. We will embrace our primary legal and ethical duty to serve our clients honestly and effectively. We will compete fairly for their business, respect their privacy and confidentiality, and provide them efficient and effective services under the conditions we promise.

Awareness and Advice. We will help raise employee awareness of sustainability issues in the areas in which we practice and include due consideration of such issues in the advice that we provide our clients.

Well-being of Stakeholders. We will work collaboratively with stakeholders in our community to enhance the well-being of others through pro bono legal services, philanthropy, and other voluntary efforts.

Economic Sustainability

Organization’s Economic Prosperity. Our organization actively works toward long-term success for the benefit of the community and our employees.

Community’s Economic Prosperity. We will help our community prosper through the taxes, salaries, and suppliers we pay, and through our civic and philanthropic efforts. DGS attorneys have a long tradition of serving Colorado’s business, professional, civil, and cultural communities. We will continue to uphold our commitment to community service by providing pro bono legal services and organizing community service projects to help serve these goals.
