DENVER - JANUARY 26, 2015 - Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP attorney Dan Spivey began his term as president of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA). Organized in 1977, the founders of CHBA envisioned the organization as the legal advisor to the Hispanic community and a catalyst in expanding the number of Hispanics in the legal profession.
"In addition to being an excellent lawyer, Dan is an outstanding leader in the community," said Damian Arguello, former CHBA president and chair of the DGS Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee. "We know that he will be an invaluable asset to the mission of CHBA."
Mr. Spivey is a litigator who primarily practices general commercial litigation and represents businesses big and small at all stages of litigation. He also acts as a general legal advisor to education institutions and has represented education institutions in litigation. He has broad experience representing businesses in contract, tort, environmental, and insurance matters in Colorado state court and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Spivey has been active in CHBA for many years, serving on the Board and Executive Committee. He also serves as a mentor in the SÃ Se Puede program aimed at helping first generation college students with an interest in becoming lawyers. In 2012, he was recognized as a member of the "Team of the Year" from the Colorado Lawyers Committee for his work as part of the pro bono litigation team in the public school funding lawsuit, Lobato v. State.
