DENVER – FEBRUARY 5, 2013 – Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP partner Michelle Shepston will be speaking at the 2013 Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) Annual Meeting and Colorado Mining Association (CMA) 115th National Western Mining Conference in Denver, Colorado. The event, being held February 24-27, will feature technical presentations discussing the contributions of the minerals industry, the opportunities in mining throughout Colorado and the west, what the industry is doing in terms of public outreach and education, and the challenges the industry faces going forward.
Ms. Shepston’s presentation, “Challenges of SEC Industry Guide 7 for U.S. Mining Companies,” will cover the requirements of Guide 7 versus current international standards and how U.S. companies can best address these challenges. “Industry Guide 7 was cutting edge at the time of its adoption in 1981,” said Ms. Shepston, “But it has become increasingly out-of-sync with mineral reporting and disclosure standards used in the rest of the world.”
