Tools for Water Management Planning and Regulatory Compliance in Oil and Gas Well Development

May 1, 2013

Please join us for the first session of a two-part series on Hydraulic Fracturing Water Resources and Management. Water, as a critical component in oil and gas development, can at times become a limiting factor that can impact production and new development. Managing the large volumes of waste water produced during hydraulic fracturing operations presents a myriad of logistical and regulatory challenges.

In this session, our speakers will present a demonstration on the use of a dynamic simulation modeling tool as an approach to evaluating the short and long term logistical and capital planning aspects of water management.

Additionally, attendees will get an in-depth look at the legal and regulatory framework governing the management of hydraulic fracturing waste fluids, including flowback water and produced water. We will address state and federal legal requirements governing the storage, transportation, and disposition (recycling, underground injection, land application, and surface discharge) of these fluids.

Speakers for this program are:

  • Tekla Taylor, U.S. Energy Services Leader, Golder Associates
  • Adam Cohen, Partner, Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP
