Building on a long career handling complex commercial litigation, trials, and appeals, Dale Harris serves as a mediator and arbitrator of commercial disputes as a member of the American Arbitration Association’s national panels of arbitrators and mediators and through private referrals. He also provides expert witness testimony in disputes involving the reasonableness of attorneys’ fees.
Mr. Harris has been the sole arbitrator, a panel member, or panel chair in more than 50 commercial arbitrations involving such diverse claims as breach of contract, securities law, fraud, franchise disputes, dealer terminations, antitrust, business torts, shareholder and management disputes, employment disputes, and other business and commercial issues. The cases have involved a wide variety of industries, including medical instruments, renal care, automobile dealerships, art collections, oil and gas, coal mining, satellite television, fast food, luxury resorts, shopping malls, and investments. He has mediated approximately 15 commercial disputes involving similar industries and claims, as well as a conflict between the leadership of a national nonprofit professional association and its separately incorporated foundation. He has presented American Arbitration Association seminar programs on arbitration and mediation topics.
A former managing partner of Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP, Mr. Harris has held leadership positions in many professional and community organizations. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and past president of both the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations. He has been the Colorado state chair of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, Colorado state membership chair of the United States Supreme Court Historical Society, president of the Denver Law Club, and president of the Colorado Association of Corporate Counsel. He has been a member of the board of directors or in other leadership positions with the Legal Aid Foundation, Colorado Judicial Institute, Colorado Trust Account Foundation, and Colorado and Denver Bar Associations. He has been a member of the Colorado Chief Justice’s Commission on the Legal Profession, as well as the Colorado Supreme Court Judicial Advisory Council, and is a fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation and a past member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates.
In the Denver community, Dale has been the chairman of the boards of directors of Mile High United Way, the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, QuaLife Wellness Community, and Great West Region of the Arthritis Foundation. He is a member of the Denver Rotary Club and Colorado Forum, as well as a past member of the Executive Committee of the Two Percent Club.
He received the Award of Merit from both the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, their highest award for service to the legal profession, and the Law Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the recipient of the Williams Award and the Ruth Vincent Cunningham Award, both presented by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation for outstanding community service. He has been included in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who in American Law, as well as in The Best Lawyers in America©, Chambers USA, and Colorado Super Lawyers. In 2010 and 2013, The Best Lawyers in America© named him Denver Antitrust Lawyer of the Year. He has also been named a Litigation Star in Benchmark Litigation.
In addition to Colorado state courts, Mr. Harris is admitted in the U.S. Supreme Court, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
