DGS partners Zach Miller and Larry Nemirow will be speaking at the 59th Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Annual Institute being held July 18-20 in Spokane, Washington. DGS associate Eric Waeckerlin also co-authored a paper for the Institute. Additionally, Joel Benson is the International co-chair and Randy Pharo is the Oil & Gas chair of the Program Committee for the three-day event. The Foundation is a collaborative educational non-profit organization dedicated to the scholarly and practical study of the law and regulations relating to mining, oil and gas, water, public lands, land use, conservation, environmental protection, and related areas.
Mr. Miller will be presenting a paper co-authored by Mr. Waeckerlin titled, “Who’s on First? EPA’s Evolving Role Under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.” Mr. Nemirow’s presentation to the Oil and Gas Section is titled: “Tax Traps: Bait, Catch and Release.”
Zach Miller
Zach Miller has practiced environmental, water, and natural resources law since 1980. He has broad experience before numerous state and federal agencies and courts in disputes over, and permitting for, oil and gas and mining operations, public land uses, NEPA compliance, water rights, water quality, air quality, hazardous substances, wetlands, and related issues. Mr. Miller has served as an expert witness in state and federal courts on wetlands regulation and Colorado water rights matters. He is listed as a leading environmental lawyer in The Best Lawyers in America® and Chambers USA and is a fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers.
Larry Nemirow
Larry Nemirow’s areas of expertise include tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, foreign income taxation, natural resources taxation, and partnership taxation. He is past chair of the Executive Council of the Colorado Bar Association Section of Taxation. Mr. Nemirow co-authored the chapter entitled “U.S. Taxation of International Transactions,” in The International Lawyer’s Deskbook, 2nd Edition, published by the American Bar Association (2002). He has been named in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2009 in the area of Tax Law and is a member of the American College of Tax Counsel.
Eric Waeckerlin
Eric Waeckerlin is an associate in the Natural Resources Department of DGS. His practice focuses on regulatory and litigation counseling in the fields of environmental, natural resource, energy, and oil and gas law. Mr. Waeckerlin counsels clients on a number of complex environmental matters under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
