The Colorado Lawyers Committee named Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP its 2017 Law Firm of the Year at an awards banquet at the Marriott Denver City Center on May 5, 2017. The accolade recognized the firm's contributions in 2016 where DGS attorneys collectively worked over 400 hours for the CLC.
DGS partner Jason Lynch was also honored as a member of the CLC Team of the Year for his contribution on the Jail Wait Litigation Team, which included Caleb Durling of Rollin Braswell Fisher LLC, Iris Eytan of Eytan Nielsen LLC, Ellie Lockwood of Snell & Wilmer L.L.P., and Mark Ivandick, Kelsey Lesco, and Jennifer Purrington of Disability Law Colorado.
“The firm’s involvement in the CLC has been a long and meaningful one over nearly 40 years,” said DGS partner Peter Schwartz, who currently serves as a member of CLC's executive committee, and as the organization’s secretary and treasurer. “The Honorable Gale Miller, former DGS managing partner, and other members of the DGS family were founding members in 1978. Along the way, Dick Freese, Gale Miller, Glen Keller, DGS partner Kenzo Kawanabe, and DGS senior of counsel, Bill Bianco, served as past chairs of the organization. Today, DGS associate Tess Hand-Bender is the chair of the CLC’s new and important Young Lawyers Division (YLD) and DGS associate Chris Lane is the co-chair of the Fundraising and Events YLD Committee.”
“Approximately 20 DGS lawyers donated time to the organization and its projects in 2016,” said DGS co-managing partner Chad Williams. “I’m proud of our DGS team and tireless efforts of the CLC.”
About Colorado Lawyers Committee
Founded in 1978, the Colorado Lawyers Committee is a nonpartisan consortium of more than 70 Colorado law firms dedicated to creating and increasing opportunities for children, the poor and other disadvantaged communities through legal advocacy, negotiation and litigation. The lawyers who donate their time through the Lawyers Committee focus primarily on major public policy issues and systemic changes rather than representation of individuals. This past year, almost 800 volunteers donated more than 7,500 hours to Colorado Lawyers Committee projects. The Colorado Lawyers Committee is affiliated with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington D.C. and similar organizations in seven other cities throughout the country.
