Amidst its many challenges and priorities, the new Administration has already initiated major changes to public lands and environmental policies, with more change to come. During the campaign, Joe Biden pushed back on charges that he would ban hydraulic fracturing but stated he would halt oil and gas development on federal lands to instead promote wind and solar energy. Energy development on public lands, however, constitute just one issue in a suite of federal policy issues affecting energy development. For example, it’s probable that a Biden-led EPA would resume the Obama era federal enforcement and regulatory programs designed to significantly cut methane emissions from the oil and gas sector.
This discussion will identify both potential changes to federal public lands policy and federal environmental regulation from a Biden administration and the tools the administration could use to effectuate such changes. To view the program's full agenda, please click here.
